Marriage is a way God uses to move us closer to Him. We often think that marriage is about someone meeting our needs, whatever those may be. Often those needs are only truly met in trusting God.

Gary Thomas wrote a book called Sacred Marriage and the tag line is: What if God designed marriage to make us holy rather than to make us more happy? I agree. We
become better human beings if we remain firm in our commitment to God and our spouse.
Jesus was one of the few human beings who was truly whole as a human. We often say that men need to get in touch with their feminine side. Really, both sides of humanity are found in God. If you look at Genesis, when God created humanity in his image male and female were together in one body. This was truly humanity being in the image of God. God separated humanity into two when He took a ‘side’ from Adam and formed Eve. Man now had a ‘better half’. Marriage teaches us so much about God and the trinity. We are now one with our spouse as God is one. Paul calls this oneness a ‘great mystery’. Marriage then begins the process of husband and wife becoming more whole humans as they walk through all the things in a marriage.
